about

After the dissolution of their band Moses, Smell the Roses (look em' up!) Mike Byrne and James Crutcher came to Chris Scott with a plan....write 30-45 minutes for a show in a week. And they did it, and through jamming, planning, and hard work with each other they turned that an album. The album that you are currently looking at. Having influences that range from Steely Dan and Facing New York to Maps & Atlases, Dirty Projectors, El Ten Eleven, and most importantly BATTLES!!!!, the band forged to create loop based based music that could grow and change and please their math sensibilities while also stroking that soulified groove music of yacht rock that they love so so so much. With the departure of James after the album was released, Chris and Mike have forged ahead to create new music and a split with Jewels and the Wallwalkers (look em' up) to be released in the coming months. The future for them is uncertain, but if only a two piece, Bearcubbin'! will forge ahead to continue to exploit the echoplex and all of its tricks while satisfying their own need to make music that keeps people dancing and thinking.
